What's on the Ballot?
The Stoughton Area School District will have a two question facilities referendum on the November 8th ballot that addresses our highest priority district-wide capital maintenance needs and looks to improve safety and avoid significant maintenance work at a building that is beyond it's useful like by replace the district owned Community Gym by adding a gym and fitness area to the River Bluff Middle School.
Voter approval of both questions would increase the school tax rate by an estimated $90 for every $100,000 of property value. Learn more on about the Community Investment.
Official Ballot Language
Question 1: Shall the Stoughton Area School District, Dane and Rock Counties, Wisconsin be authorized to issue pursuant to Chapter 67 of the Wisconsin Statutes, general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $36,300,000 for the public purpose of paying the cost of a school facility improvement project consisting of: district-wide building systems, safety, security, energy efficiency, capital maintenance and site improvements; remodeling at the High School; removal of the prior Yahara Elementary School building; removal of the current maintenance building and construction of a replacement maintenance building; and acquisition of furnishings, fixtures and equipment?
Question 2: Shall the Stoughton Area School District, Dane and Rock Counties, Wisconsin be authorized to issue pursuant to Chapter 67 of the Wisconsin Statutes, general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $11,700,000 for the public purpose of paying the cost of a school building project consisting of: construction of a gymnasium addition at River Bluff Middle School; removal of the current Community Gym building; related safety and site improvements; and acquisition of furnishings, fixtures and equipment?
