Viking Marching Band

Named for one of the original SHS bands, the Stoughton High School Viking Marching Band prepares and performs an annual field show. This group is comprised of Symphonic Band members, but is also open by audition to any Band student in grades 9-12.

Performance/Rehearsal Schedule for 2026 VMB

Band Camp

  • July 13, 14, 15, 16
    • 8:00-11:00 AM - Music and Marching Basics Rehearsal with all Band members
    • 11:00 AM-12:00 PM - Learn Drill
    • 12:00-1:00 PM - Lunch (Either on campus or off)
    • 1:00-2:45 PM - Learn Drill
    • 3:00-4:00 PM - Learn Music
    • 4:15-5:00 PM - Learn Drill/Coordinate Music & Drill
  • July 17
    • 8:00 AM-12:00 PM - Learn remaining Music & Drill, Coordinate Elements
    • 12:00-1:00 PM - Lunch (Either on campus or off)
    • 1:00-4:00 PM - Music Rehearsal with all Concert/Symphonic Band Members
    • 4:00-5:00 PM - Clean up all areas
    • 5:30-6:00 PM - Family Performance with reception to follow

Trip to Drums on Parade (optional)

July 24, 7:00-10:00 PM

Monday/Thursday Evening Rehearsals

Evening rehearsals begin after Band Camp and run until the end of the season.  All rehearsals start at 6:30 PM and last until 8:30 PM.  Students MUST be ready to play/practice by 6:30 PM so plan on arriving early to get set up.  If a student is arriving late because of an athletic practice, please fill out a conflict form.

NOTE:  "C" denotes Collins Field, "P" denotes practice field

  • Stoughton Marching Invitational - October 4, Early Afternoon Performance, Times TBD
  • Home Football Game - Homecoming, October 9
  • Sauk Prairie Marching Invitational - October 11, Afternoon, Departure/Performance Time TBA
  • WSMA State Marching Band Championships @ UW Whitewater Perkins Stadium, October 17.  Performance time 2:04 PM, all other times TBD.
