5th Grade
5th graders are the musical leaders of our school! I really enjoy seeing how they've developed and are starting to have confidence in their singing and playing.
Our 5th grade students play instruments at a higher level, preparing them for orchestra and band in middle school. In the fall they will study recorders, building on the initial work they did in 3rd and 4th grade. In March they will continue working on guitars, and can advance much more quickly with their larger hands and better coordination. In the spring they will do piano again, which will be their 6th year of the unit - they really start getting good!
5th grader have the option to participate in 5th grade choir, which meets during lunch on Thursdays, January-May. Any student can be a part of the choir!
5th graders are also great singers and actors. They will do the last concert of the spring semester, presenting "Schoolhouse Rock" concert in late April or May, which takes place on the Sandhill stage in the cafetorium. 5th graders will put on a 'mini musical' version of he Broadway show of the same name. There are lots of solos and acting opportunities, and you will be amazed at the range of talent and enthusiasm that they display.
