5th Grade Music Academic Content
Stoughton Area School district uses Quaver Music to teach all students in grades K-5. In 5th Grade, students complete units about The Impressionist Era, Rhythm, Meter, Melody, Chords & Harmony, Listening, Notation, Singing, Instruments, Recorders, and a capstone project where they produce a Commercial using all they have learned. In addition to the learning students complete during class, they can also access all of their lesson content, concert practice materials, educational music games, and music creation tools by logging in to their SASD Quaver Music account anywhere with an Internet connection. Click here for directions to login from home (English) (Spanish).
Recorders
Every year, Kegonsa's 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students play recorder as a required part of their music class. You will receive an electronic form and will need to pay the fee (if applicable) in Infinite Campus. Recorders will be delivered to students in their music class.
Norse Afternoon of Fun
In February the Stoughton Norwegian Dancers will be hosting the Norse Afternoon of Fun at Stoughton High School. At this community-wide event, the Syttende Mai King, Queen, Prince and Princess are announced and the Dancers perform. All SASD 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders have been invited to perform the Norwegian National Anthem, Ja vi elsker as part of their performance on that day. I hope you will consider having your fourth grader participate in this optional special event. As the event gets closer, please watch for permission slips to come home. Practice materials can be found in your child's online Quaver Music account.
5th Grade Concert
Every year, 5th Grade students work together to produce their own concert. Students pick the theme, the songs, the art, the movements, and the props. Students should start thinking about ideas that are school-appropriate and can involve everyone!
WSTO TV Recordings
IMPORTANT NOTICE: WSTO TV will be filming Kegonsa's 1st Grade through 5th Grade concerts and placing the footage on Charter Channel 98, Digital TV Channel 981, and their website. Families can even purchase a professional DVD of the concert from WSTO. However, if you marked "withhold all" or "withhold some" information on your child's school registration form, they will not be able to be filmed as the school district needs permission to have your child's image shown on TV. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Benson.
