Lesson Schedule

Students receive a 25 minute small group lesson every other week and are assigned instruction times based on individual schedules, preferences, and instrument. In lessons, students focus on playing techniques specific to their instrument while working on mastering learning targets at their own pace. Additionally, individual or small group playing quizzes and tests may be given. Before coming to a lesson, students should always check with their classroom teacher about any work they may miss. If students have a test, guest speaker, or other special event, the classroom teacher may ask the student to stay in class, and therefore a make-up lesson would need to be scheduled.

There are options for making up a missed lesson:

  • Attend the lesson of someone else who plays the same instrument and is in the same grade as you. Check with your classroom teacher and with Mrs Meyer to see if it is ok first.
  • If none of the other options work, talk to Mrs Meyer about completing an alternative lesson assignment. This option is only available 1 time per quarter.

Grades are given for each orchestra lesson. Therefore, all missed lessons due to test, absence, or other reasons need to be made up within two weeks of the missed lesson. It is important you make up lessons in a timely manner so that you keep up with instruction and know how to play everything in class!

If there is a recurring issue with your lesson time or you feel that you are missing a class and it is negatively impacting your grade, please talk to Mrs. Meyer
