2nd Grade Music

Veterans Day

This year, our school will celebrate Veterans Day in an all-school assembly on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 8:20 a.m. Our students will sing the Peace Round and the National Anthem and will observe two minutes of silence. Red, white, and blue clothing is encouraged on that day. Family members who have served or are serving our country are encouraged to attend (in uniform if possible) so we can honor your service! Click here for Veterans Day for more information about this special day. Madison Youth Choirs (MYC) Annual Boychoir Festival

Every year Kegonsa’s male students in grades 2-5 have the opportunity to participate in a special event called the Annual Boychoir Festival in Madison, WI on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. This is an official school field trip, but since it is on a weekend day, participation is optional. It is a great music opportunity for boys to come together and sing with tons of other boys from Dane County and beyond. Boys in grades 2-12 work in smaller age-group choirs and as a large group choir to learn songs during the day and then they perform a public concert the same night. They are still finalizing the details for this year’s Boychoir, so please watch the music web site for more information. Click here for Madison Youth Choirs (MYC) Annual Boychoir Festival to learn more about MYC.

1st & 2nd Grade Concert

Every year, each grade level showcases their learning in a concert by performing a handful of songs related to a theme we have been studying. This year's 1st and 2nd grade concert theme is still in the works. Please check back later for more details! All Kegonsa concerts are free and open to the public. Please mark your calendars for March 15th at 8:20 a.m. in the Kegonsa Gym. We look forward to seeing you there!

Opera for the Young - Rusalka, A Mermaid's Tale

Every year, through the generous support of Working For Kids, Kegonsa students and Opera for the Young perform a famous opera. Although all students K-5 learn music and stories from the opera, 4th and 5th grade students have a special opportunity to audition to become a cast member who will sing and dance on stage with the professional opera cast. On April 6th our entire school will take a field trip to the Community Building Gym by River Bluff Middle School to see professional opera singers and our very own Kegonsa 4th and 5th Graders performRusalka, A Mermaid's Tale at 9:00 a.m. The show is open to the public and free of charge. Students will be encouraged to wear school-appropriate costume items that fit the theme of the production. Click here for Opera for the Young - Rusalka, A Mermaid's Tale to learn more about Opera for the Young.
