Stoughton High School Students Place First in Firestone Competition
Stoughton High School students recently participated in Madison College’s annual Firestone Competition and came out on top. With a written test beforehand, 50 participants were narrowed down to the top three written scores for Stoughton HS. Jaky Robles-Torres took first place, Forrest Burrington placed second, and Jack Conant placed third.
Each school was allowed three teams of two students, but this year the numbers were smaller so they were allowed five teams. Hosted by the Madison College Automotive Program, the 6 hour challenge consisted of tire rotation, electrical diagnosing, scan tool operation, and precise measurement, followed by another test about parts identification. Over 40 individual teams participated. The overall score for Team Stoughton was first place.
For individual teams, Stoughton Schools placed second (Jack Conant, Zane Breusch), fourth (Garrison Furseth, Braeden Ylvisaker), and fifteenth (Carson Rowi, Bjorn Seybold).
The challenge provides students with the chance to assess their proficiency in key skills relevant to the automotive industry. It additionally enables them to connect with other students who share an interest in the field, meet experienced professionals and educators, and gain insight into the Madison College automotive program.
The students that competed in the hands-on portion were: Jack Conant, Zane Breusch, Garrison Furseth, Braeden Ylvisaker, Carson Rowi, Bjorn Seybold, Aaron McLaughlin, Forrest Burrington, Thor Skupien, and Alex Christianson.
Congratulations to the participants!
