Solar Energy at River Bluff Middle School

SASD is excited to announce that the new 103.12kWdc solar array installation at River Bluff Middle School is officially producing clean, renewable energy for our students and community.

This project was made possible through a generous grant from the Couillard Solar Foundation’s "Solar on Schools" initiative, administered by the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA). The foundation donated nearly 100 high-efficiency solar modules to the district, significantly reducing the upfront cost of the installation.

The Couillard Solar Foundation is a Wisconsin-based non-profit dedicated to proving that solar energy is both environmentally "green" and financially "green." By partnering with them, SASD is taking a proactive step toward sustainability while protecting our budget from rising energy costs.

Thanks to the donation of modules, a Focus on Energy rebate, and federal Direct Pay incentives, the district expects a full return on this investment in less than 10 years. The system is estimated to produce approximately 123,000 kWh per year, acting as a long-term hedge against increasing operational costs.

This project was a seamless collaboration between:

  • Findorff: General contractor for the gymnasium expansion.
  • Pieper Electric: Electrical contractor and grant-writing partner.
  • MREA: Program administrators.
