SASD ‘exceeds expectations’ on Department of Public Instruction report cards for 2020-21 school year
As a district, we are proud to say that we exceed expectations on the Department of Public Instruction report card for the 2020-21 school year!
Annually the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) releases report cards for each school district and school as required by Wis. Stat. 115.385. Report cards are one tool we can use to reflect on our strengths and areas for improvement. Report cards were suspended for the 2019-20 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and DPI urges caution when interpreting scores and ratings of the 2020-21 report cards because of the impacts of the pandemic.
At the foundation of the report cards are four priority areas. Schools and districts receive a score for each priority area:
-
Achievement - proficiency in English language arts (ELA) and mathematics on the annual state assessments
-
Growth - year-to-year progress in ELA and math achievement
-
Target Group Outcomes - outcomes for students with the lowest test scores: the Target Group.
-
On-Track to Graduation - reliable predictors of how successfully students are progressing toward completing their K-12 education.
As a district, we are proud to say that we exceed expectations with a score of 72.6 based on the four priority areas above.
100 percent of our five schools either meet expectations or exceed expectations on their school report cards. Three schools exceed expectations - Stoughton High School, Fox Prairie Elementary School, and Sandhill Elementary School.
As indicated in our report cards, there are areas of growth around success for all students. We continue with a focus on our equity work and our multi-level systems of support to work to increase achievement for all students.
