New Student Enrollment

Welcome to the Stoughton Area School District!

If you are BRAND NEW to Stoughton and currently reside within our attendance boundaries, keep reading to learn how to enroll your student. If you do not live within our attendance boundaries but wish to attend SASD, visit our Open Enrollment page.

New To Stoughton Enrollment Information

In accordance with the SASD Admission Policy, any child who meets the entrance age requirements and legally resides in the boundaries of the district shall be admitted to school in the district. To confirm your elementary school of attendance, please click here.

Step One: Complete Online Enrollment

To complete your student's Online Enrollment, start by completing our enrollment application by clicking the blue icon below.

If you are unable to complete the electronic enrollment, do not have internet access, or need language assistance, please contact Ashley Steffel at (608) 877-5042 or ashley.steffel@stoughton.k12.wi.us to schedule a walk-in, in-person enrollment appointment.

Step Two: Schedule an Enrollment Appointment

Once your enrollment application is complete and submitted, please see "Contact Us"  (on the left menu column) to set up an appointment.

Appointments are set based on the availability of our staff and take place Monday through Thursday, typically from 7:45 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Additional times may be available if other arrangements have been made beforehand with the enrollment specialist. These appointments should take approximately 10 minutes* and are held at the District Office building, 320 North St, Stoughton, WI.

*If you're scheduling an appointment where you will need to use the school computer to complete the application and provide the required documents, please plan on this appointment taking 30 minutes or more.

At your enrollment appointment, the parent/legal guardian will need to provide the three required documents listed in Step Three.

Step Three: Attend your Enrollment Appointment

The parent/legal guardian will need to provide the three required documents listed below:

1. Proof of Residency (select one of the following):

  • Lease Agreement with current address, names of people residing at the address, effective date and all parties signatures.
  • Current Utility Bill (within 45 days); gas, electric, cable, or city/village water with name and current address.
  • Home Purchase Agreement or Offer to Purchase with the name of buyer and seller, and current address.

NOTE: We cannot accept cell phone contracts, driver’s licenses, or financial documents. If you are not the lessee or homeowner, proof of residency is still required along with a letter from the lessee or homeowner stating you are residing there.

2. Proof of Child’s Age (select one of the following)

  • Current passport
  • State ID or driver's license

3. Parent/Guardian proof of identification

Only parents or legal guardians may enroll a student. Please bring proof of identification for yourself to your enrollment meeting.
