Social Emotional Learning

Social and emotional learning is a critical component of what we do at Kegonsa.  We know that to effectively prepare our learners for the journey ahead they need the social and emotional skills to successfully navigate their community and their world.  To that end we are:

  1. Refining and expanding PBIS universal while developing tier 2 and 3 systems of support in order to develop consensus, clarity and collective responsibility around PBIS including: expectations, positive behavior interventions, behavior responses and consequences.
  2. Implementing an in-class counseling model using Second Step, Zones of Regulation, Social Thinking and teaching building wide expectations.
  3. Implementing Social-Academic Instructional Groups delivered by School Psychologist and School Counselor for students needing more small group and individualized support.

Highlight

Our behavior referrals since the beginning of the year are on a marked decline since the expansion and refinement of PBIS, counseling and social-academic instructional groups.  Students LOVE receiving our Gilly Positive Behavior Slips.
