What are the school hours for students?
School hours are 7:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 
Occasionally we have a planned early release for students. Students are released at 11:00 a.m. on those days.

What time do the doors open?
Students are allowed to enter the building at 7:35 a.m. Please do not drop students off at school before 7:35 a.m. There is no outside supervision until that time.

What are Fox Prairie office hours?
Fox Prairie School office hours are 7:15 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.

What are the school safety, visitor and volunteer sign in procedures?

We love to have parents and volunteers come help during the school day. If you have not had a chance to connect with your child's teacher about opportunities to help, please feel free to do so.

What time does my child eat lunch?

Kindergarten Lunch Time: 11:00-11:25 Recess: 11:25-11:45

1st Grade Lunch Time: 11:05-11:30 Recess 11:30-11:50

Second Grade Lunch Time: 11:15-11:40 Recess: 11:40-12:00

Third Grade Recess Time: 11:15-11:35 Lunch: 11:35-12:00

Fourth Grade Recess Time: 11:05-11:25 Lunch: 11:25-11:50

Fifth Grade Recess Time: 11:10-11:30 Lunch: 11:30-11:55

Are there school fees?
Yes, elementary (Kindergarten through Grade 5) school fees are $10.

What do I do if my child will be absent from school?
If your child will be absent for any reason, please call our absence line by 8:30 a.m. at 608-877-5100, press "1" and listen for the attendance line prompt. Give your child's name, date of absence and reason for the absence.

When a student is absent and the parent/guardian has not contacted our office, an automated call will go out to the designated contact leaving a message of that absence. Please contact our office so we are aware of your child's safety.

If your child is absent due to a medical appointment, please ask your doctor to give you a note indicating your child was at their office for an appointment. Their absence will then be coded correctly.

What do I do when I need to pick up my child before the end of the school day?
When a student leaves school between the hours of 7:45 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., the parent/guardian/other designee must come to the office and sign the child out of school. The student sign-out sheet is located in the office. School personnel will call the student to the office. It's very important that all students are checked out through our office so our staff is aware of the whereabouts of all students at all times.

What do I do if I want to volunteer at the school?

We welcome volunteers at Fox Prairie Elementary. If you are interested in volunteering, contact a classroom teacher. All volunteers will check in at the office using our Raptor Secure Entrance System.

Is there a parent group at Fox Prairie?
Working for Kids is a great organization that does a lot to support learning and the school environment at Fox Prairie. Their involvement in our Fox Prairie community includes many things such as: volunteering, donating supplies, organizing events, etc.

If your family has participated in any of WFK's sponsored events, you know how much fun they are. Please volunteer as you're able to help with an event. It's also a great way to meet other Fox Prairie parents and know more about what's going on at our school.

If I need to write a check for fees, field trips or lunch, who do I make the check out to? 

Please make checks payable to: Stoughton Area Schools or SASD.

How will I know when school is closed due to severe weather or another emergency?
If school will be closed or delayed due to inclement weather or another emergency, be sure to listen to the following radio stations: AM stations are WTDY (1670), WTSO (1070), WIBA (1310), FM stations are: WMGN (98), WJJO (94.1), WIBA (101.5), Q106, WZEE (104.1), WMLI (96.3), WMAD (92.1), TV stations: WISC TV Channel 3, WMTV TV Channel 15 & WKOW TV Channel 27, WKPO (105.9-Janesville), WJVL/WCLO, WOLX, WMMM & WYZM.

A school closure message will also be sent via School Messenger to the phone number designated at registration.

How do I pay for my child's lunch?
The Stoughton Area School District contracts with "TAHER" to provide breakfast and lunch for students. Breakfast and lunch is free for the 2021-2022 school year. See Food Service for more information.

Where do I park when I pick up, drop off or visit the school?
Parents may park along the side streets near school. Please be sure to pay attention to the signs along the south side of W. South St. that indicate what hours are off limits for parking during the school day to avoid receiving a parking ticket.
